Pantone 至HSL

HSL provides intuitive color manipulation by separating color properties: Hue controls the base color, Saturation adjusts intensity (from gray to vivid), and Lightness controls brightness (from black to white). This makes it easier to create consistent variations, adjust colors for accessibility, generate theme variations, and maintain color harmony compared to RGB or HEX, which mix color components numerically rather than conceptually.

HEX is better for static color definitions, while RGB is preferable for color mixing in graphics software.

HSL simplifies creating color harmony by working with hue angles: Analogous schemes use hues within 30° of each other, Complementary schemes use hues 180° apart, Triadic schemes use three hues equally spaced (120° apart), and Tetradic schemes use two pairs of complementary colors. By maintaining consistent saturation and lightness values across these hue variations, you can create cohesive palettes that work well together.
